Ok...Does anyone ELSE know about the 700hp Mallett Vette that gets 30mpg???

It's slime green, done by the Mallett performance shop.

It was featured in HotRod magazine and has been seen all over the place. How does anyone not know about this. Quote:

LOL. Gimme a break. This kid was saying how the Grand National was an economy car. Why do I even bother wasting my time with this faker? |

heh, I was explaining once to someone how like a 5hp go kart could beat a dodge viper on top end. With the correct gearing anything is possible...of course that's a bad example because 5hp prolly wouldn't be enough power to turn a gear like that.

Hey man, its cool that you post about the vette and all, but don't bash members in the process. I'm sure he would have gotten the point without the quote.

			  Anyway, that's a sweet vette!

Question: (not a personal attack) In general, why do you moderator guys bother to censor stuff? Is everyone so sensitive to words like **** or Sh!t?

Also, why bother to close theads? If someone doesn't want to partake in an arguement, why bother continue to visit the same post? They're not forced to look at it...why lock it? I'm not trying to cause trouble. Honest. Just trying to understand the logistics. I mean I suppose it could get out of hand to the point where someone wants to kill someone and asks for an address... but if that's not on your hands...it's on the hands of the two fools who engage in a pissing contest and who aren't grown up enough that an opinion is an opinion, even if the other person doesn't have an educated one. ![]() |

 1) Mods don't censor... the Administration writes the censor rules into the forum software. We have no say in that. 2) Mods are supposed to close threads when they get out of hand. That's really only when they get into personal bashing wars. If someone has a problem with another member, take it to PMs. The forum needs to have a little structure.

Hey veX, where in that article does it say anything about this amazing 30mpg this vette is getting? Second off..with 700+ hp and 50K$ invested and its only turning out 12 second time slips...well that just speaks for its self

Nice top speed...thats about the only thing i like about that car tho.. the power to weight ratio in that car must suck terribly for the 1/4 mile times he put out for the hp that car has...might have been a bad driver who knows... and did you see what that car would retail for? like 110,000$ ..i dont know a lot of sportcars stock quartermile times but i bet you could find a car than ran alot quicker stock for alot cheaper...you could even deck out a R33 or R32 for less than that...hell you could have 10+ civics all running 11's for less than that (just a guestamate)

Exactly. And where does a kid get off calling me a kid. A stock Z06 gets about 30mpg on the highway, so how does a highly modified 400+ cu in engine with forced induction going to get near that?? Oh right gearing.. I guess it cruises at 200rpms on the highway. |

The only problem is that the Mallett 435 didn't post the track numbers one would expect of a 759-hp car. Its best 0-to-60 and quarter-mile runs were not as quick as the stock Z06 or even Mallett's less-powerful Vette of a year ago. And its best 100-to-150-mph time (9.5 seconds) was dramatically too long for such a powerful car.

Hmm, all that money and supposed power just to be slower than a stock Z06. Where do i get one. |

The Mclaren is known for a rediculous top speed only 20mph better than this corvette apparently. I believe it would have some rather long gearing dont you?

The Mclaren F1 gets 19.** MPG(on the highway) and costs 1 million dollars, yet the Mullet Corvette costs 100 odd thousand dollars and can get an astounding 30MPG. Amazing. |

If you knew anything about anything, you'd know that it was detuned to get the fuel economy that it gets. I'm more than sure you can get that car across the stip in 10seconds or less. |

Well that makes a shit load of sense. Lets spend 50,000$ on modifications, take it to car and driver to show everyone what this car can do and then "DETUNE" it to get some good gas mileage. Yeah right, good argument. Last edited by AzCivic : 11-26-2002 at 11:52 AM. |
