wan access

Is there a program I can install on two machines that will allow me to span the internet like I am at home on my LAN.

I want to be able to remotely access my shared files on my file server; but over the internet.

Any programs come to mind?

I actually used to see TV commercials for something like that. I just can't for the life of me remember the name. Bah...hopefully it'll come to me eventually. I think it was just some sort of simplified FTP that allowed to access stuff on your home PC from anywhere.

So I know how to do that, and it works while both computers are at home. But if I want the music at home to be sent over the internet to my laptop this doesnt' seem possible.
