Well i just had my final exam of my A+ certification and passed it today. i was thinking about getting the network+ certification also before moving on to the MCSA/MCSE certifications in the middle of 2005. The local college offers the class for $1200 but also i could study on my own. I know th on my own study is less money out of my pocket, but from the course description it seems that there are going to be some hands on training too, like installing servers and doing a bunch of stuff. i only managed to skim thru my net+ book, but it seems that the course option is far better for me. what do you all think about it ? well i am asking the peeps that already have the net+

I thought about getting my A+ cert, just because it might look good on a resume. A buddy of mine went through that and a bunch of other tests, and he was studying nonstop, the book was really thick.

Does the test have a lot of questions about older technology? The review book i was reading was talking about some real obscure shit that one wouldn't run into normally (token ring adapters, and other legacy network protocols sticks out in my mind)

and how much did the test cost you?

uhh the 2003 objectives test doesn't get into older technology as much as the 2001 test did. the test was 150 for both of them.

and the book seems to be pretty pointless too. most are general questions, very few are to the point. and one more thing: the pictures in the tes suck, so make sure you have a bunch of coins with you lol

I took the Net+ course, but I never went back for my Certs. Its a really good course, if your going to be working around a networked enviroment I highly recommend that you take it.

I'd say that if you read over the material and you are truely lost, take the class. Stuff like the A+ is easy to study for yourself, but as you progress to harder material, the more it helps to have an instructor. Just my opinion, that's a lot of money. What job are you trying to get?
