whats with the fakeness..?
[soapbox]why is it that to some extent my "bluntness" is frowned on? i mean on a LOT of internet boards im on, people get bitter when i speak my mind... if you make a post saying "hi im new here my car what do you think... then list mods consisting of the "uniwiper "conversion" and green vinyl" and i tell you your car is ass and to get lost... while everyone else is tellign you how nice your ride is.. WHAT GIVES... i mean i guess i really dont care.. but i am under the impresion that the idea of a message board is to SHARE views and idea, NOT kiss each others ass... if i think your ride is crap i should NOT take heat for sayign it... my car is NOT all that, but when i post it i ALWAYS say "positives and negative comments welcome" because i do NOT want people to kiss my ass.. if you think my rims are gay tell me.. as i use internet boards to exchange ideas and learn new things [/soapbox]

im actualy kinda glad this came up. my take on this is i will 95% of the time just not post. or if i do, i will give an opinion on something related to what is talking about, kinda as a nice way of saying i know this thread is to boast your car, but it is not my style, and not really my liking, and im going to give advice to try to turn in to a type of car i like. on other boards i might be a little more blunt, but being a mod, i need to set the example of how to act, and hating on a members car is not a good way to do it. however... if you step on my toes or say something to trigger me off.... the rules will go out the window.

and even with all that being said.. don't you see how when you see something SSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOO played out that it annoys you THAT much you SHOULD say something.. im an administrator on another website (local street racing site) and NO ONE holds back.. i just think its MUCH better to be honest.. people can't HONESTLY post there cars thinking EVERYONE will have something positive to say..??? |

Honesty and Rudness are two different things.
You can say the same thing except on lighter terms. Why say that someone's car sucks (only in your opinion) when you can just say...."It's not my style" or "I don't really like it!" ??? |

wow..oc in the shifting gears section...never thought id see the day...
I agree w/ you most of the time oc, you know that...but at the same time Im usually conciderate of others feelings on the boards...off of them is a different story...you know that too but like everyone has said, be subtle and just say "personally I dont like it, but if you do, thats fine...go with it" Remember, ''Beauty is in the eye of the beholder'' |

i think that as long as you do it kinda nice and not all sorts of mean than everything will be cool, and if you sa something that is nice or at least ok on there car before or after you bash it then that makes you less of an @ss

HOw can anyone make their car better without the support(or disapproval) of their peers. I say keep up the honesty. it is the only to make $h!t better. For example, i told me roommate that i liked the light up exhaust. he told be he would kick me in the groin for putting something like that on my car. Being that this is my first car worth a damn, i took his advice and didn't get the hideous exhaust. It is this type of support i think everyone needs.

It all depends on who you are responding to. Some people take it personally some take it as constuctive criticism.
If everyone praised everyone else's ride the amount of rice civics and accords out there might be 10 times worse (not to bash ne1). But honestly at times i see other civics and just think thats why when i say i drive a civic i get weird looks. I say keep up the honestly, even if u have to be blunt. Alot of people have been straightforward with me on this site, although i didnt like it at the time, it saved me from wasting alot of money by buying crap for my car. |

OC, your right.. Everyone is entitled to thier own opinion. But like most other people have said, its the tone in which its said. Its completely possible to speak your mind without making yourself look like an ass.
Some people are more blunt about things then other, thats understandable. But telling someone "your car is ass and they need to get out of here" is a bit to much. Instead try to include some constructive criticism and explain why your thing thier car is ass in a half way mature way. Swearing at people isnt necessary.

well i see it in a differnet light. its cool that you even have a car, as most of the ghetto people around here dont even have cars or jobs. if they do have a car its usually and old caddillac that aint worth 500 bucks but has 1000 dollars in rims and 2500 in car audio

im NORMALY nice (or at least civil) when they don't try to act cool.. ex: (not naming anyone) but person a says heres my mods blah blah blah altezzas (just an example... then someone NICELY (not me cause im not really nice.. lol) says they are getting kinda played out blah blah blah... then person a replys with well in my town they still turn heads... i feel the need, no no no.. i feel the DUTY to step in and say.. your ****ing hubcaps are chrome, you have goofy played out taillights light up windshield wiper nozels and TEN POUNDS OF VINYL... you are NOT turning heads cause your car is "hot" they are LAUGHING AT YOU!.... NO ONE NEEDS TO MOD THERE CAR LIKE ME TO GAIN APPROVAL... you get my approval 2 ways...do something that interest me (obviously) OR do your OWN thing WELL... with style.. with SOME originality... theres NOTHING wrong with tricked out show cars.. THAT ARE DONE WELL (although not my style at all) check out some of the civic post.. that mischief kid.. i talk shit on him A LOT! and i can't stand neon lights... BUT his came out good, SO I SAID.. GOOD JOB WITH THE NEONS...
i guess all im saying is... in SOME cases i AM trying to hurt feelings.. TO EVOKE CHANGE.. TO PROGRESS ARE HOBBY, TO PUSH IT TO A NEW LEVEL.... i mean come on.altezzas ARE pretty played out.. lets do something new.. |

So you think just because your going to tell someone that thier altezzas suck they are going to go out and mold mustang taillights into thier cars? (Just an example, I dont think anyone would want to actually do that.)
People do altezza because its a cheap, easy mod to change the look of thier car a little bit. Its thats what they want, fine.. but you dont have to tell them thier car is shit because you dont like the way it looks. Its your opinion. Example.. Maybe you are walking down the street wearing a shirt that someone doesnt like. They run up to you and get in your face and start calling you a f*g because they dont like your shirt. Chances are your probably going to get a little pissed. Not because they guy doesnt like your shirt, but because he's calling you a f*g for wearing it. Its his opinion though. You probably wouldnt get pissed off if someone walks up to you and says thats a really ugly shirt, or I dont like your shirt. Youd probably just brush it off and keep walking down the street. What Im saying is chances are, your probably not going to change anyones mind about altezza taillights by telling them that they are f*cking stupid. I appreciate the fact that your trying to evolve our sport, but there are other, more tactful ways to do it.

im not sayign they HAVE to do anything... im simply saying that "ricers" for lack of a better time hinder my ability to be taken seriously, therefore i dislike them.. i dislike tasteless tacky mods... AND yes if you came up and said your shirt is gay.. id probably become violent and confrontational, BUT if i were JUST beign a sheep and wearing shirt "x" because EVERYONE else was wearing shirt "X" MAYBE just maybe after i went home i would reflect on my lame as shit shirt... and be like OMG what the hell am i doing.. IN fact MAYBE JUST MAYBE something VERY similar to that occured n my life and thats why i take it to heart..... i THINK that sheep SUCK... and that probably has a lot to do with my blunt (sometimes hostile) nature.. IN FACT maybe just maybe there are pictures of my car SOMEWHERE with altezzas on it.. MAYBE... and MAYBE someone woke me the **** up.. lol |

I understand where you are coming from. "Ricers", "street-racers", and several other labels give import drivers bad names. It sucks. But what can you do? Sure bitching and moaing may make you feel better, but the end result will still be the same. There will still be "ricers", "street-racers", and whatever else giving other import drivers bad name. Its the same for everything. Bad cops give good cops bad name. Disgruntled mailworkers give all mailworkers bad names.
Its typical stereo-typing. Theres no way around it. If you dont like it, the only way to beat it is to get out of it totally and dont associate yourself with those kinda people. Which means, no more modded imports. That doesnt sound like any fun.

Thats exactly what Im getting at.. Its a vicious cycle.. You have the "anti-rice" streetracers yelling about the ricers giving import drivers a bad name, then you have the "anti-streetracers" ricers yelling about the streetracers giving the import drivers a bad name.. When in reality, everyone is a little to blame. Thats whats so great about this world! You can always blame someone else..
