E Brake Removal

I'm planning on spicin' up my interior a bit.. i got a 99 Civic EX and i wanted to get an "aftermarket" e-brake.

My question is.. how do you remove it? Thanks

Ditto! Except I want to do the reverse of what he wants to do. I want to remove this stupid aftermarket Razo e brake that I have on there and go back to stock. I cant figure out how to get it off.

i heard you just need to pry it off. Stock slips on really tight and aftmkt is a good question. they could have screwed it on or glued it, sometimes on top of the stock handle so you might have to get a new stock handle if it's got glue and holes in it

Many models need to be sawed off. I'd wait for someone with your model to confirm though.

i think you need to saw it off. i looked at mine and the cars are pretty damn close.

Man, sawing off the e-brake handle? That's crazy. But I mean, I guess you have to do what you have to do. I have a 1992 Honda Civic, would I have to saw that off also?

use the mighty flat head screw driver

i changed my e-brake using a flat head screw driver. I sat in the back seat of my car and i pointed the flat head screw driver to the top of the e-brake. Then use all of your might to push forward. Make sure you get a towel or something to cover your shift to not get it scratch. believe me!!!! It came off in 15 mins having 25 tries. Good luck!!!!

also in terms of sawing it off, if you have a dremel you can saw it "along its length" till it hits the metal part, then simply pry it off

i get the feeling most people think "sawing off" means right at the root LOL,

psh...I changed mine and now Im buying a stock arm to replace the thing (cant get new handle off and I sawed the oe handle)

dont change it...you'll be happier in the long run

just to let everyone know...you just twist of the ebrake handle... that works fors a 99 civic, i don't know about the other cars though...

i asked a car shop around here and i just decided to let everyone know who ever might be interested...

you'd twist the arm if you did it that way... I cut mine along the sides and then forced it off w/ a big screwdriver and pliers

(sorry it took me so long to repost)

yeah... and to this date the handle is still not willing to cooperate with me...i'd feel horrible to cut it up...
