NA, Vtec, Turbo or Charge. What should i do with my B20?
Just a simple question... its just that i've got so many opinions about what i want to do with my B20... I originaly wanted to start with a Vtec Frankenstine... but ppl tell me that i'll have problems with leaks and engine life after like 30k miles... so i asked around about turbo and Super chargeing... then they tell me that it requiers alot of high maitanance... But i know that i cant get much by just going NA... Balls to the wall thats what i want to do with my B20... any one got suggestions... NA? Vtec? Turbo? SC?

Turbo. but you should upgrade internals and do the basic modifactions to your B20 first.
you dont want to turbo car and have the internals not beable to take the boost and fry everything. then you have to start over.

turbo. if tuned right the maintenance won't be required that often.

a b20 is a motor
you cannot use cold air intake and a turbo together... If I were you, and I must say ive pondered this thought many times (motor wise), I would take the b20 and resleeve it for boost. Turbo b20's kick major ass, but the sleeves tend to die out at or around 6psi or more. Once you do that, boost it up and use a b18 ls cams for slightly more aggression |

IT depends. ON milege. I say u would be safe if u ran less than 6psi but being very careful. But id go ahead and do them just to be on the safe side

It really depends on what you want out of the motor.
Were it me, Id start w/ resleeving and boost it up to 8-10psi. The b20 is just a bored out LS integra block and everyone knows its components are pretty decent. If you plan on going over 1bar Id advise on going w/ pistons too. |

so what im getting is that the stock internals will be good to handle the psi as long as i resleeve the block... and also keep it under lets say 7psi???

If youre keeping it around/under 7psi resleeving alone the motor will definately hold up.
The rods are the same as b18b/a and theyre not wimps, really. LS rods can daily take the boost upwards of 12psi. Shotpeening the rods is an option, that would give them a bit more strength as well. I know the stock b20 pistons would hold 7psi, no worries, but if you planned on going higher and are concerned about them, you might as well go aftermarket since you already have the entire crank out for resleeving. But it is NOT necessary IMO. |

dont listen to pdiggity... you cant rev b20's anywhere without internal work.
depending on your budget, bore/resleeve get a vtec head and intake mani. (and you cant just slap on the vtec head and expect it to run correctly, you have to do a lot of machine work. ie, plugging oil holes, boring combustion area, boring out head gasket, ect. check this site out http://www.b20vtec.com/frontpage.html rods, and forged low compresstion pistons if you wanna boost it, gsr (or ctr/itr if you can afford) cams, steel crank that is a good start for b20/vtec turbo let us know what you decide |
