OT. what video cards do you have in your computer???

im in search of a vid card. i have a voodoo 5 5500 agp and it is plenty fast and looks good for most of what i do(unreal tournament and flight sim 2002 mostly game wise). but with the new games like unreal 2003 and doom3 and america;s army it dont work:-( on sat i bought a ati radeon 9700 pro, and im disapointed with it, its faster, but quality wise it looks worse!. i tried several diff drivers and diff OS's (win2k, XP pro, 98se, ME) so i am ganna take the radeon 9700 pro back in the morning, was wondering what you all have and your opinions of the cards.

i have an asus a7a266 mobo, xp1900 chip, 1 gig ddr ram, blah blah blah. i trying to decide what to buy next(hopefully that looks good) thanks for the info |

Damn, that Radeon 9700 is supposed to be top notch. I've had nothing but good luck with the GeForce 4 line of cards. I guess you'd want the 4600 series.

		 msi ti4400 323/650 stock cooling

for doom3 i'd suggest as fast as you can afford. it puts my 4400 though a pretty good workout. radeon 9500 looks nice for the price. i'd suggest looking into that card. otherwise ti4600 or radeon 9700. |

Wow... maxvia, a girl, into computers. nice.

Doownek: I don't know if you're familiar with Sierra or not, but i work for them, in tech support none the less. I sugg an nVidia based card. I've always had luck with them, and never much problems. If you can afford the Ti versions of the GeForce 4, then i'd go with that, otherwise i'd use a GeForce 3 Ti over a GeForce 4 MX... Ebay, GeForce 2 Ti, 50 bucks. BAMM!!

the 9700 has problems running on motherboards that don't support agp 8x. They have suck massive power requirments that the 4x agp boards can barly run it. I have a gforce 3 ti200 and i only have this card becase my gf bought it for me my birthday. But if i were you i would look into a gforce4 ti. www.newegg.com is an excellent place to order from.

BTW if you going with a gforce 4 mx card, don't. Go for the gforce 3, it can display some textures that the gforce4 mx cards cant |

gf4 mx440 is a budget card that can play the majority of games and be average.

for only about $80, ya cant really complain. however, i do - because mine is a piece of shit that likes to lock up. im ditching this pos in favor of a Ti4600 as soon as i can afford it. |

Wish it had better drivers...... Works great. I'll get a new one sooner or later though. For now the CPU tends to pickup the slack. ![]()
