![]() I have a 96 Accord LX. I have two questions, first, I can find no name CAI's for very cheap on ebay, I am wondering if there is really a big difference between these and say an AEM one. Second, is a CAI really a problem in the winter with the moisture and getting wet?

yeah the piing should make a bit of difference, but the filter is the main thing.

Winter: You're fine if you don't submerge the filter. You know whether you drive through water that deep.
I'd splurge and get the AEM. I have one and its a very high quality unit. I doubt you could say the same for most of the Ebay stuff. ![]()

hey! theres another CAI's on ebay, i think it was a CP intake, it looks just like an AEM one and is street legal too! the filter looks pretty nice though. i'd say they're both the same (2.5 inch piping, similar filter + piping design and hp increase) but i'd still go AEM (brand reputation)! OH! beware of those intakes on ebay claiming to be cold air when they're really a short ram.
oh yeah, i took of my ebay intake and put my stock box back and took out the resonators...damn! it actually sounds nice!! nice and deep, response is a little slower though. i still think its cool ![]() |

What the hell is CP? Anyway, just b/c it says "street legal" on Ebay doesn't mean you should believe it.

oh well, i always thought the piping make the intake setup legal. the stock intake arms are like 2.5 inches while some short rams can go up to like 3.5. AEM uses a 2.5 inch arm as well as Injen. I heard that the filter make the difference also.

It has to be C.A.R.B. approved to be street legal. I'm not sure of their criteria, but it is based on emissions, and possibly sound levels (?)

hmm, but the stock intake that I put back without the resonators sounds just like my shortram, deeper too, so I'm guessing im still street legal (stock box) ![]() |

I did exactly that with my stock intake. took out the resonator and attached 3 inch PVC piping to guild the air in a little smoother. sounds really nice but I'd rather have AEM. $14 for PVC pipings and clamp is a lot cheaper than $120 for AEM :-P
