I just thought I'd clarify something. The larger the rim, the more it slows you down. Sure, the 17s might only weight a couple pounds more than the 16s, but ask yourself where that weight is... on the outside rim. The moment (torque) required to move a point of mass is the weight times the perpendicular distance to the center. In other words, it gets harder and harder to move the wheels as the weight gets concentrated further from the center.
