something got messed up this morning i wrote a super long reply explaining alot of things but it dissapeared and i'm kinda pissed it ended up the the thermal midsection pipe was rattling against the frame of my car and that was very annoying i traded the exhaust to a friend who had a 96 civic coupe and he had the same problem and ended up paying an exhaust shop $125 to make a custom piece so that the thermal exhaust would fit and i did check the part numbers that were stamp into the piping to make sure they were the right ones based on thermal's website you said that you were looking at the apex WS and the thermal Stealth exhausts because they are supposed to be "quiter" i can't comment on the apex system but the stealth exhaust is quite a bit louder than stock i have a pretty nice stereo in my car and it can get very loud but no matter how loud it was i could always hear the exhaust that was nice for shifting because i never had to look at the tach to see how many rpm i was at, i could just listen i loved the sound of it when i was driving by myself but as soon as i had a passenger i wished that i could push a button and make it as quite as a stock muffler, which is barely audible at any speed or stereo volume if you don't want to have to talk over a droning muffler i would stay away from "performance" mufflers all together if your exhaust is in good shape then just leave it be especially with an auto tranny you aren't going to notice any horsepower increase or increased gas mileage i couldn't tell any difference when i switched back to a stock exhaust from the thermal exhaust and on long trips i always ended up getting 40mpg, regardless of which exhaust was on also i wouldn't sugest puting on an intake unless you think it looks cool for when you open your hood and show off that beefy 1.5 liter SOHC engine the only differnce that i noticed and that you would probable notice between a stock and a performance exhaust would be looks and sound both of which are big if you really want to drop $400 bucks on your car i would sugest getting some better rims and getting rid of the 13" stock steel wheels that are your car... unless of course you allready did that i got a set of 14" honda rims off of my buddy's HX and they are the coolest thing ever you really can't do much for the performance of an LX unless you do an engine swap because 105 horses just isn't much to work with keep in touch and don't get discouraged by anything i said because it is all my opinion and yours might be different except for the stuff about the stealth exhaust not fitting, that is a fact later Sean |
