You're licky the wheel didn't come off. Just becuase someone works at a dealer doesn't meant they know it all.
Some of the people I work with at my second job are dumb as hell, but they work in a computer store.

The key to driving on 3 lugs is make sure they are tight enough not to come loose.. There should be like 80 lbs-ft of torque on those things.
