I am a new Honda Accord owner
Well Hello all.. I am new to Hondastyle.com I just recently bought a '99 Honda Accord LX model 2dr coupe 5spd. I love this car and it is a big change from what I had before. I use to have a '98 Nissan Frontier that was lowered and showed. But I wanted to start racing in the import class cuz I hate domestic muscle cars. And I want to spank the crap out of a 8cyl mustang someday or a corvette or something. Anyways I also need help modding up my car cuz I don't know much about import racing yet and I have no clue which brands are good. I also want to go naturally aspirated if i can but maybe someday turbo not sure if i want turbo or Nos yet. So any suggestions to make my car faster than it already is email me jhegs@hotmail.com I also have Msn> jhegs@hotmail.com or Aol> Jhegs34. Talk to everyone later. Matt
P.S.> BTW ACCORD'S RULE |

if u really want to start racing imports accords are not a very good choice. they are heavy and torrque starved cars. yours is a 4 cylinder so i don't know what can you do to it to smack the rustangs and the vettes. I have an accord also and speedwise it's slow. all i could manage to race and win were 3 civic ex's with i/h/e and 2 jetta VR6's go to the accord forum and we will help you spend your money the most efficent way

welcome to hondastyle.
if you want to beat vettes and mustangs the best car to choose is the civic or the prelude. accords can be fast but if i were you i would look seriously into weight reduction. ie carbon fiber hood, removing the stock seats and replacing them with lighter racing seats which look cooler anyways. and forget having a system in your car if your into that stuff. thats too much weight. stay with your stock wheels cause they are lighter and the right size to get max power to the ground. 17" wheels aluminum or chrome reduce horsepower at the wheels. i do think you will need a turbo to win against vettes and the like. >>Later>> |

Welcome to HS. Glad to see another Accord around, but if you're into dragging, it probably wasn't the best choice.
You will absolutely need an engine swap + turbo, engine work, electronics, fuel system, ignition... the list goes on. You could probably buy a second car for cheaper. It has been done though, so don't get discouraged. If you have a fat wallet, you'll be haulin ass in no time.

Well I am not much of a dragger but I am more into autox racing and basically street racing...I don't mind doing red light to red light or something...I would like to go naturally aspirated if I can so I don't have to use turbo or anything. I know it can be done I have seen it where an accord did race a 5.0 mustang and the accord won by 1 1/2 car lenths but I will see if I can play the role of import street racer against the domestic mustangs and win.
