I second that idea. I remember that letter Honda sent so long ago, and I remember thinking it was just a scare tactic. Though these days its so easy for ANYone to get something taken down, due to abuse of the DMCA...
What about the original logo? I couldn't find it and I searched for like a half hour seeing if anyone ever posted it as an attachment...no dice. I had it in my sig for the longest time, but that hosting service went under long ago...this is all I could find (attached, and yes, it was the image stealing banner) And I also found this, the letter saying we couldn't use the Honda name: http://www.hstuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13174 |

Maybe one of the admins should contact bigger sites that still have Honda in their URL and ask how/if they dealt with it. I find it hard to believe that Honda would send Chief a letter like that and ignore sites many times bigger than this with the same "violation". Or hell...maybe just make a home page that has a big disclaimer on it.
I don't think this problem would fall under the DMCA...especially the way the original letter was worded. Here's a template letter that would be needed to cover DMCA violations (something I've come across from time to time since I pirate TONS of movies )Quote:
Does the DMCA even cover trademarks? The Honda name isn't copyrighted, it's trademarked (as far as I know). Hell...even if Honda pulled stupid bullshit again, I'd be willing to help fight the fuckers.
