there is a lot of information out there for hacking DVR equipment to allow playback on a PC. Unfortunately, there is so much, its hard to search for. What is the specific model of your equipment?

There is a general way of doing it, which would be to get a tuner card, install it in your PC, hook it up to your dvr box, and play the desired program while your PC is recording. There will be a loss of quality if it was HD.
