Seriously...I'm sure the Japanese were asking this same question around 2000 when every studio in the U.S. was remaking/rereleasing/ruining all of those J-Horror flicks. The sad truth is that no matter how original you try to make a movie, it's probably been done before or at the very least people will draw all kinds of parallels to other movies. But hey...sword fights underwater? That's gotta be worth some points, right?
