If you need software and have an FTP let me know. All the DVD software I use (except nero) you can get for free and never have to pay for it.

As for your DVD issue. If you're DVD burner is:
DVD+RW then you can only burn +R/+RW media DVD-5
DVD-RW then you can only burn -R/-RW media DVD-5
DVD+/-RW then you can burn both formates DVD-5
DVD+/-RW dual layer allows you to burn both formates in DVD-5 and DVD-9

I personally recommend the NEC3520A DVD+/-RW dual layer. They have firmware cracks that allow you tweak your burner to do some very useful features. It's burned a ton of disks for me with little to no issue.
