With today's emails, cell phones and cultural influence its hard to say where it is really coming from though. The english language is a fluid one; one that is constantly changing.

the sad thing is that as words are used for a certain period of time they will be acknowledged as words. The Dictionary is ever changing and for the worse if you ask me.
