The glasses for both motorcycle and preformance bicycle use serve a few purposes: a) to keep bugs and other grime out of the eyes, b) to keep the eyes from watering at speeds above 30mph, and c), as previously stated, to clarify vision.

The dark lense, which is the most popular, obviously darken the harsh bright light on a sunny day. You also have your rose/amber/orange lenses, these serve to eliminate shadows and brighten a setting sun; they make sunset look like noon. You also have your yellows. These are more for night use on dark roads where the headlights of oncoming cars would severly impact your visibility. Lastly, you have your clears, which basically serve to block wind.
