yeah that works I suppose...only it wouldnt have to be that high rpm for around...oh all honda's w/ vtec. Most of them kick it on anywhere from 4500-5800.
An easier way to tell is to just look for the vtec solenoid. An even easier way is to just look on many of their valve covers...though not all that have it will say. Another way is to ask the dealer that you bought it from. Vtec will probably not help you win a street race...Id be surprised it it did. Vtec is highly overrated... Anyways, street racing is illegal and you should not be doing it at all. As to the other question: The SI is just a car that has vtec...nothing special about it. The 99- (6th and 7th generations) model si's are all dohc vtec motors. All that means is they are Dual OverHead Cam motors that have vtec. Not all dohc motors are vtec and in the same respect, not all vtec motors are dohc. The 5th generation and below civic si were SOHC (single overhead cam) vtec. |
