As for amps. It all depends what you want out of one. If you want an amp that will make noise, just about any amp will do. And just because its a cheap amp doesnt mean it wont last. Its usually just the opposite. The biggest thing with buying a cheap amp is the power efficiency and the ability to produce clean sound.

What are the RMS ratings on the amp and sub? There are a ton of other things to take into consideration for a sub. One of the biggest is the kind of box the the sub is housed in. A sealed box will require more power then a ported box will, etc. Your electrical system is another issue you need to keep in mind. Chances are, for a 600W amp you shouldnt really need to upgrade your altenator though its probably not a bad idea. Also quality wiring will help as well.
