That's probably why. I'm not sure if the del sol is the same as the accord, but on the accord the oil filter sits right above the axle and exhaust. When changing the filter they usually spill some on the axle and exhaust and, when the exhaust gets hot, it burns off. It can take a couple hundred of miles to burn off.

When I change my own oil, I'm much more careful and I also clean up any spillage, so I don't get the burning oil smell.

It's probably that, in which case the best way to get rid of it is to do a good long drive to heat everything up and get all the oil off. If you make lots of short trips it'll take longer to get all the oil off.
