Well, you can kind of just look at it, but my Haynes is better at describing things than I am, so here is the excerpt: Adjustment -To adjust accelerator cable a) Lift up on the cable to remove any slack b) Turn the adjusting nut until it is 1/8 inch (3 mm) away from the cable bracket c) Tighten the locknut and check cable deflection at the throttle linkage. Deflection should be 3/8 to 1/2 inch. If deflection is not within specifications, losen the locknut and turn the adjusting nut until the deflection is as specified. d) After you have adjusted the throttle cable, have an assistant help you verify that the throttle valve opens all the way when you depress the accelerator pedal to the floor and that it returns to the idle position when you release the accelerator. Verify the cable operates smoothly. It must not bind or stick. That's what good 'ol Haynes says about it ![]()
