Clarification:
Boost is boost. A good rule of thumb is 1 psi boost is equal to 10 plus/minus 2 Hp gain. The efficiency will then rely on the tuning aspect and well-designed combination of parts. I prefer turbo due to its ease of operation and the capability of "on the go" boost adjustment. It also uses wasted energy (thermal energy produced by the exhaust system) to a more beneficial use which is spinning a turbine. Spool time is not as great as the SC but that can be solved by tuning the low end or the pre-spool power band. Spool time is also directly proportional to the size of the turbine, flow (in CFM), exhaust temp, and ambient temp. |
