there definitely NOT for saving weight as the rubber bladder inside them is quite thick and rather heavy however changing the amount of fuel they hold will save weight. they stainless stell braided lines used though are good to 3000 PSI and withstand chemicals that not even asphalt will hold up to. and you can dump 5-10 gallons in the matter of seconds.

fuel cell size depends on the need.

And whats funny about that... your talking about top fuel cars... they NEED more fuel... it would be pretty dumb to run a 5 gal tank when you NEED more than that... like I said they usually get the SMALLEST POSSIBLE... to SAVE WEIGHT by not having extra weight of both a larger container and more fuel...

Of course your not going to run the EXACT required size you don't want to fuel starve your engine because it ran out of gas...

I PERSONALLY KNOW people who have used 5gal fuel cells TO SAVE WEIGHT... it is a required feature on track cars under certain times (maybe all I don't know)... so purchasing a 5gal one instead of a 30 gal one WILL DEFINATELY save weight. especially LIKE YOU SAID the bladder weighs A LOT too... bigger bladder MORE weight.

And I don't know many 5.0's that need more than a 10gal running pump gas or even race gas on a quater... and that'll still get you down the track a couple of times.
