also most of if not all of the additives they put in there oil (which really make it the oil) will breakdown after that long... in the case of mobil 1 they re-designed their oil because the additive lasted too long... now they breakdown just like the rest.

It's also because no matter how well oiled or good your car is there will always be TINY metal fragments (even dust) that will harm your engine if it's left in there.

Change your oil often and your filter too..

even if my car manufacturer recommended changing the oil once a year I'd do it every 3k... it's just not worth risking damage to your engine.
