You don't know how long I tried to find this damn clip you're talking about. In my Haynes manual, it says the same thing but when I put my knob on, I found out by trial and error that there was no such clip

I looked at my stock knob, and the "clip" I was talking about it part of that. Just two plastic things going down that hold the boot up.
