A bump stop is just a little rubber peice that is on the "rod" on the strut. When you remove the strut/shock, you'll see it. Its like 3 little rubber fittings. On my installation, we were only supposed to remove 1 (of the 3) but we cut all of them off.
That's what a bump stop looks like, but I am not sure exactly what it does... -Ducky
