No offense, but if you have to ask this, then maybe you should reconsider your engine choices. If you're looking for the ultimate in speed you're gonna have to sacrifice mileage. But, if you're a normal American who doesn't have the luxury of burning gas like there's no tomorrow, then maybe you should consider the SOHC instead of the DOHC. If you've got 10K to play with, then my suggestion is to look into a 93-95 LX coupe. You should be able to find a nice one for around 3K. That leaves you plenty of cash to upgrade what's important. It's got most of the creature comforts as the EX (ps, ac, pw) minus the sunroof, d16z6, and EX/Si tranny. Now, with the extra cash you have left over you need to go buy a used d16z6/tranny/ecu. Everyone's dumping these in favor of the almighty b-series, so you should be able to find one pretty cheap. Then you do all the normal bolt stuff and get a better cam and ecu reprogram. When all is said and done you should still have plenty of cash left in your pocket and a relatively quick, comfortable ride that'll still be gettin around 28 mpg.
