Because Toyata/lexus (or their contractor) submitted lights to the Department Of Transportation so they could evaluate and approve the lights...upon approval they ISSUE A DOT APPROVAL NUMBER THERE BY RENDERING THOSE AND ONLY THOSE LIGHTS LEGAL... If toyota/lexus puts IDENTICAL STYLE lights on a different model car they must get a NEW DOT NUMBER for that NEW product.

to this any judge in america would say:

"BECAUSE THEY WENT THROUGH THE PROPER LEGAL CHANNELS YOU DUMB DUMB KID. Now show me zoning permits or get the **** out of my court room"

Are you simple? seriously. dot approval is what dictates legality NOT apperance. your lights can look dot approved all they want a judge in a court will ask for 1 thing and 1 thing only. a dot approval number.

If your lights do have one they are legal...

IF YOUR LIGHTS DO NOT HAVE ONE THEY ARE ILLEGAL.

it doesn't matter what they look like that's why your original arguement was wrong.
