Here's the way I see it. Driving a stick is alot more fun when traffic permits, but can be a ***** in heavy traffic. If you're going to be racing the car, manual is better in most cases. You're able to hold a gear through a turn. You can get better and more controll'able launches. You're also able to downshift.

In all actuallity, I think that the F1 inspired tranny, called SMG in most cases, is the best, but can be a bit tricky.
