Civic Sedan Rear Speaker Removal

Im kinda new at upgrading car audio in my car. I feel kinda stupid asking this, but how do i remove the rear speaker grilles to get to my stock speakers. I already removed the front speaker grilles with ease just by prying them off.. The rear speaker grills are a bit harder to get off.. please help, kinda desperate.. Thanks

umm, at the moment I'm a little confused betwenne Civic generations..

Go in the trunk, and looks to see if you have any screw attached to the grill. If so, then unscrew and remove the grill.

If not, they should simply come off by pulling on them.

In an hour I'll be going outside.. So I'll check out my dad's car and let you know.

I could be wrong, but im pretty sure the rear speaker grilles dont just pop off.. i tried looking for screws in the trunk.. but could not find anything... Does this mean i have to remove the whole backing behind my seats just too access the speakers?

I don't specifically know in a 98 civic, but if there are no screws, a grill should usually pop right off.

ok.. Sorry I couldnt check last night.. It was already too dark..
I'll be going out in about 2 hrs.. Promise I'll let you know.

If there are no screws and the grills dont pop out.. THen, you guessed it. You'll have to remove the entire rear deck..

Many cars are like that..

i believe you have to remove the rear deck to take out the speakers. at least thats how it is in my friends 98 accord, im pretty sure its the same concept in the civic.

ok I looked.

I'm pretty sure you can simply remove the grills. If you look well, you'll notice that the grill doesnt form into 1 piece with the deck.. Meaning its detached for the deck.

In your trunk you'll notice some white clips/pins. I'm guessing those are whats holding the grills in place. If you could have someone push on them, you'll probably see the grills move.

So you'd have your answer.

If it wasnt so cold outside, i'd do all the testing for ya..
