Well, it's a little more complicated than that, but you should only rev it to 6800 rpm.

LS/VTEC and CR-VTEC suck.

yeah 2ndGen is really anti LS/VTEC and its a really iffy setup, and requires a lot of maintenance, really more trouble than its worth, just run boost

second that. if done properly and maintained religously, it's a good setup that will create good power, but it just isn't worth the time, effort, and money unless you have a gearhead who likes to work on motors everyday living near you.

I have got a buddy that did the cr-vtec swap and has not had a problem with it. He runs mid 14's. He told me that the swap is pretty basic and the that the block and head bolt right on. The engine was placed into a crx. Website:

A GS-R engine will run mid-14s in a CRX.

It's a little more complicated than slapping a head on a block. Regardless, the rod ratio for LS/VTEC ensures it will never last as long as a GS-R, especially when revved to an effective VTEC redline. In additon, the non-VTEC crank was never made to support high RPMs. Do yourself a favor: save some time, effort, and money, and just get a B18C.
