ls/vtec

for the ls/vtec setup will it be possible to use the b20 block with the b16a head?

2ndGenTeg 05-02-2003 01:22 PM

yes- AKA CR-VTEC.

Equivalent to a bored out LS/VTEC.

thekid 05-03-2003 05:24 PM

ok so then i can use a b20 block on my b16 motor and does any one know how it will run after the setup is complete?

2ndGenTeg 05-07-2003 11:25 PM

Well, it's a little more complicated than that, but you should only rev it to 6800 rpm.

LS/VTEC and CR-VTEC suck.

yeah 2ndGen is really anti LS/VTEC and its a really iffy setup, and requires a lot of maintenance, really more trouble than its worth, just run boost

second that. if done properly and maintained religously, it's a good setup that will create good power, but it just isn't worth the time, effort, and money unless you have a gearhead who likes to work on motors everyday living near you.

yeah i heard it was pretty high maintanance. if you want power get a turbo or boost.

I have got a buddy that did the cr-vtec swap and has not had a problem with it. He runs mid 14's. He told me that the swap is pretty basic and the that the block and head bolt right on. The engine was placed into a crx. Website:

A GS-R engine will run mid-14s in a CRX.

It's a little more complicated than slapping a head on a block. Regardless, the rod ratio for LS/VTEC ensures it will never last as long as a GS-R, especially when revved to an effective VTEC redline. In additon, the non-VTEC crank was never made to support high RPMs. Do yourself a favor: save some time, effort, and money, and just get a B18C.

Just tellin' my experiences, but 2nd gen teg has got a point
