Seafoam

I'll be blunt... Get a can.

This stuff is awesome. Engine runs SO much smother than it did before.
(I did run 2 cans of fuel system cleaner through the tank beforehand...just to clean up a little bit)

As soon as you pour the 1/3 of it it into the booster hose (funnel needed..and you'll need to keep pulling the throttle cable so the engine doesnt die...duh) you'll shoot a crap load of white smoke........and I mean a crap load.
It was neat :D
Then I added another 1/3 of it to the gas tank and the other 1/3 to the crank case (oil filler hole).

After that I just drove it around for 10mins until all the white smoke was gone (spirited driving).
When I got home I changed the old crappy oil (which wasnt really that dirty...), plugs (since the old ones were bombarded w/ carbon deposits shooting past them at mach 4) and fuel filter (because it's never been done................dirty in there).

Im very pleased w/ this stuff and my car seems to be as well.
(Only downside to this maint. is that I found that my outter cv boot and axle took a shit and Im now in the process of fighting w/ the lower ball joint to replace the axle....it sucks)

(A better how-to: http://auto.snowsuperstars.com/seafoam.html )
The picture at the bottom of the white smoke doesnt do it justice....my neighbors got pissed because of all the smoke I had shooting out.)

Oh...use it at your own risk: After using it you could find leaks or other crap.

i've been wanting to do this, but with 115,000miles i'm scared.

my damn axle boot is f'd too!

thanks for the info

i use the lucas tuneup in a bottle stuff. it's only $3 andafter i run it thru a tank of gas you can see the pistons silver. i ran it in my accord a few times, the first time was after 150k miles and i was quite impressed with it

pdiggitydogg 06-09-2004 09:53 AM

w/ 115k Id be a little scared too...but you could try running carb cleaner through it first and a couple bottles of regular system cleaner and see what happens. Then maybe seafoam.

I just dont like lucas products... Ive seen and heard bad things, mostly from my cousin who is a ford-fanatic and builds crazy muscle engines

JDMFantasy2k 06-09-2004 04:30 PM

ever seen the lucas oil stabilizer test things they have at CAP? it's a series of gears attached to a hand crank that are in regular oil and then there's another set that has 20% lucas oil stabilizer. When you turn it you can actually see the oil move up through the gears. It's pretty neat.

WOW, somebody has way too much free time, but i would have never guessed those results...

sicones 06-09-2004 10:03 PM

what is "seafoam"????

pdiggitydogg 06-10-2004 04:52 AM

super-mega carb/injector cleaner

it removes probably close to 90-100% of all carbon deposits when ran through all 3 locations.
(It has a warning on it :) )

sicones 06-10-2004 12:20 PM

where can you get this

sicones 06-10-2004 12:23 PM

i'll have my friend use it first;)

pdiggitydogg 06-11-2004 10:30 AM

I got it at murrays discount auto...autozone doesnt carry it
try pepboys or napa

thermal 06-11-2004 11:00 PM

This is fucking great man..... I'm gonna try this soon. Gotta got to Napa to see if they have it.....

JDMFantasy2k 06-12-2004 01:00 PM

question though, i just just put plugs in my car so does that mean that the seafoam will kill them?

AzCivic 06-12-2004 02:00 PM

napa should have it, the one here does

JDMFantasy2k 06-14-2004 03:57 PM

hmm still wondering if seafoam is going to kill my brand new plugs because i want to try it and i don't want to have to replace new plugs.

pdiggitydogg 06-14-2004 07:10 PM

you really should change them after doing it.

Ive learned to keep my old plugs around for about a month after changing just in case...

JDMFantasy2k 06-14-2004 07:27 PM

yeah, mom was messin with my shit in the garage  oh well if you guys disapprove of bosch plugs so much then maybe i'll do it in a month and try some ngk's or something.
