'03 Accord Mods/performance gains
I'm interested in getting a 2003 Accord sedan, I really want a manual tranny so that means I have to do with the I4 for now (I know the coupe will have a 6 speed but I don't like how it looks) ... The word seems to be that the Accord I4 will be about 170 HP/ 170 lbs of torque, not bad, certainly better than the 150 of generation 6. Now, assuming that the following parts are available for the 03 Accord sedan, if I added a CAI, header, and exhuast system, along with better spark plugs and wires would would be the HP/torque gain to the wheels? I estimate about 20 Hp/Tq, which would put its performance in the range of the V6. I realize I could go more extreme but I don't want to start violating the waranty with major engine modes (at least while its under waranty). Basically, I'm just looking to boost the performance for everyday driving. I've seen posts as to the benifits of making a car a better "breather", but the posts didn't focus on the Accord. Any thoughts? Will the new iVTEC engine offer an tuning challenges (same engine as the 02 CRV)? Thanks for the help.
