wanna hook up another puter to cable internet

what the heck do i need? apparently i can't just hook up another cable modem so please help.

just get a router. i know pdigs was giving one away for free, then you will setup a small network.

That's what I'd do unless you know how to run cable and/or do a wall fish. It's not ridiculously hard, but man is it a pain in the ass.

I've actually been wondering about this for a while since the local cable company only allows 1 account per household and my roommate is stuck with dial-up. Is a networking card a necessity when running 2 computers on the same connection? The router is no problem, but I haven't a clue how to set up a network.

its easy... i just use a hub that has a internet in port on it, then plug the computers into it. ive got 2 computers and a xbox running that way on mine.

edit> oh and setup a small home network with the microsoft networking wizard. walks you right through it,not too hard to figure out.

woohooo! just got my wireless network setup. its detecting another unsecured network, i should get on it and see what happens.
