New 2005 V-6 Hybrid Accord

I was watching regis and kelly this morning (yes i know i know), but they had a whole group of new 2005 hybrids..Ranging from the new Ford Escape Hybrid to the new 2005 Accord hybrid. It's a v-6 and it has the new ecotech technology where 3 of the cylinders cut out if not needed and you wont feel the difference. Im trying to search for a pic of it, but it looks like a regular accord... but is supposed to be about 3 grand more.

I cant believe that lexus is coming out with a hybrid suv.. nor can I believe chevys new silverado will be a hybrid... although the silverado hybrid is kind of cool since it will have 4 sets of outlets in the trunk... 8 plug in to plug in powered tools... kewl

I don't think the Silverado is a hybrid. It uses that ecotech system to cut out 4 cylinders of the V8 when they're not needed to save gas. It's the same setup Cadillac introduced on it's V16 concept a few years ago. Then again...the Cadillac made 1000hp.

how does the whole turning off cylinders thing work? i'm assuming the ecu senses the throttle position and vaccuum and then just shuts off fuel to certain injectors, turning those cylinders into air pumps essentially?

man...I'm not even sure how it works. Apparently they've gotten so good at it that you can't even feel the cylinders cut out or kick back in. It's not a bad idea to save gas, though.
