2003 Accord 4 cylinder??
Hi, I'm new to this board, but I'm considering buying an '03 accord and was wondering if anyone here has driven them yet? I love the style, but I'm wondering if the 160HP offered by the four is enough with the 5 speed. I'll probably go test drive it this weekend, but was just seeing if anyone here had some input, thanks!

First of all, welcome to HS!
Second, When you ask enough, What do you mean? It's not gonna be very fast stock but that's what mods are for....

Well, I am looking to at least be the same if not faster to 60 than my current car, a 2001 Nissan Sentra SE Auto. The manual version of my car (stock) has a best 0-60 time of 7.9 seconds, so I think mine is doing it in the high 8's. My next car will be a manual, though, because I realized how much more fun it is I'm looking at two other cars in my search for a midsize sedan, and they are used '02 Maxima 6 speeds and '02 Passat 5 speeds. The new '03 accord 4 cylinder will cost about the same as used versions of the other two cars. The Accord I'm looking at is the four cyliner EX w/leather.....thanks for your help!!

You're welcome....well, good luck with your search. IMO the 7th Gen Accord bodystyle is pretty nice and I think that it would look tight modded out...are you lookin' at the coupe or the sedan? just curious.....

For insurance and people hauling reasons, I'd rather have a 4 door.

I've driven the new accord 4 cylinder, auto and i must say i really was not impressed at all with it performance. The car is way to heavy and very underpowered. Performance wise the car is a complete failure IMO.
In terms of ergonomics, ride, noise level and everything else a family is looking for the car is top notch. Would i buy one, yes, as long as it had a v6 (manual of course) but the car would definately not see any mods just because it simply is not worth the money. Now if i had to choose between a 2002 max and a new accord that would really be a no-brainer for me. I would take the Max with out a second thought, it has a much more useable powerband and it is a solidly built car. Plus it will smack the hell out of an accord all day, every day. <-- Paul, who drives a 4th gen accord Hope this helps some. |

BWUAHAHAHA anyway, accordinstyle thanks, hondaman, i drive a 93 ex coupe 5 speed, with all of one mod done to it, which would be a aem warm air intake. Screw the engine for now, i'm more worried about making my car handle better and more fun to drive, so the engine can wait. Maybe eventually when i have money that i dont' know how to spend i'll get a turbo. |
