Exclamation How should I modify my 99 civic ex, i'm new to hondas???

Hey all, this is my first post, i love civics and i just got a 99 civic ex and i want to make it fast. I want to put a turbo on it and i was just wondering if i can put a greddy turbo kit on my car without any other upgrades except a new exhaust, i heard this ok but let me have your thoughts and advice, also how much would a turbo for my car cost around, thanks in advance.

Welcome to HS..

You can put a greddy turbo on your car with no other mods. Maybe not the safest thing but it can be done. If you aleast get a Boost gauge, and a Exhaust Temp or A/F Gauge to make sure you arent running lean to help prevent detenation and run colder plugs then you should be able run the greddy kit at its stock boost setting just fine. As long as your cars mechanical condition is upto par.

yea my mom gave me the car so i know it's been kept up really well, so as long as i just get the correct gauges and whatnot i should be fine, does anyone know about how much installed with gauges and everything a turbo kit will be? and any other help for modifying my car, i'd appreciate it deeply.

There is a step by step area with lots of things you can probably do on your own.. You may want to check them out. Id take some time and learn your car and how everything all works before jumping into something such as a turbo so fast.. Its good to see that your on the right path tho, stay around here a while and youll be ready to master the art of Honda Performance..

if you wanna go fast for cheap these are the first mods you should start with

1. intake
2. short throw shifter
3. sticky tires
4. suspension (springs & shocks)

that will help out a great deal. good luck.

Well bro I new to Hondas but have been a turbo car before and know several people that run them. I would not add a turbo with out an intercooler. That was my big hang up was another $500-$700 for an intercooler. Once I saw a boat load of used ones around I decided to go turbo. I will let you know how the install goes as soon as I get my kit ordered...sometime in the next week or so(dang Christmas shopping is killing me!)

I think I/H/E is the first step. Well maybe not headers if you going turbo. About the whole Sleeper thing. I think it's a great idea. But like Racing Rice said. Don't jump into anything too fast. Learn all about a turbo set up as you can. READ READ READ!!! Make sure to soak up as much knowledge of turbos first. Trust me. It'll help.
