swapping out the trans and clutch
i was thinking of ripping out my old non-VTEC trans and stock clutch to put in a newer VTEC and a better clutch. Anybody think this would be worth the time or money. Also, what is the major difference between a VTEC and a normal engine.

GASP *Dan falls over and DIES* I dont really think that there is a Difference in the transmission EXCECT gear ratios (haha) if u look at the car manual it shows the different speeds that the different models need to be shifted in. the DX and LX models are longer gears..meaning that 3rd hits 88 i belive while in EX model (ie VTEC) 3rd maxes at around 82 that is all i know bout the transmissions, CEPt i have already replaced mine at 90K miles Stupid ass transmission is supposed to be able to handle spinning in 1st and 2nd everytime i drive it for 90k miles.. Guess i have 70k to go to replace this one since i am still doing it. |

If you gotta swap the tranny then it'd be a good thing to do. You'll definitly feel an increase in acceleration.
You'd should also swap on a vtec head of a d16z6 or y8 that'll also be a good increase. |
