1991 accord and burnt up transmission ATCUs
hello everyone:
any help with my problem is appreciated. here we go: i own a 1991 accord dx with an automatic transmission. so far it has burnt up 2 atcus(auto transmission control units). i changed the 12 volt battery and the ignition switch, electrical portion only, and still the problem persists. i spoke with a mechanic recently and he said to check the transmission solenoids, that one may be grounding or shorting causing the atcus to burn up. does anyone know where these solenoids are and how to diagnose them? money is tite for me now and i hope to fix the car myself. thanks so much. sincerely, bec |

they are in front of the tranny, by the motormounts. as for a manual you could get chilton's. i think that's where i noticed the tip on how to diagnose them: you need to undo the plugs and check for resistance on them between the wires and the ground of the car. you should get a resistance of 12-24ohms, then aply bettery power to them. you should hear them click
