Where's my ECU LED?

My '88 Accord is running badly...poor accelleration, loss of power, etc. I learned how to use the ECU on another brand of car and thought I'd learn how to use the honda system. From the dealer I was informed that the ECU is under the drivers seat, which appears to be true. And there is a little 1'" pop down cover in the back visible from the rear at floor level. However, I have not been able to see a LED or other light which would emit the codes. So is that the ECU; if not where is it? Where'sthe light? I seek advice from the wise and experienced!!!

sometimes the led won't work, so you will need a scan tool.

Hey, thanks for the response. I would need to see the LED to know if it is working or not. So, do you have an idea where it's located?
Thanks.
