tire selection

I need a tire that will work decently in autox and on the street. I've only got one set of wheels so I can't go with a full racing slick, I want a tire with a treadwear between 300 and 400. I'm tlod that a harder compund is better for someone beginning anyway because it makes you learn how to drive instead of relying on real sticky tires. The ones I'm leaning towards are the Falken Ziex Ze-512's in a 195-60/14. The Azenis's are suppoed to be real good, espically for the price, but I want something that's going to last a little longer and do better in the rain as this will be a daily tire until I can get some wheels for street.

Any recommendations?

I would have you look at the Yokohama AVS-ES100 tires. I use them for my daily driving, and they work great. I also used them for one autocross with no problems, just remember to up the air pressure when you auto-x. I also use the Falken Azenis just for auto-x with great results. I sometimes have to drive to events with my race tires on, no problem. Good luck with the auto-x. Bye the way, what class are you in. I'm in STS.

I'd be STX. I'm going with a harder Falken. I looked at both the Azeis's and the Yoko's and decided that i'd be better to go with a hrader compoound because it would make me learn how to drive my car rather than rely on sticky tires, and they were cheaper.
