What would be a good amp/sub/box to get?

I already have 4 pioneer speakers, but what headunit/amp/sub/box would be good for my civic? (2002 sedan ex). I know peopel at bestbuy that can get me they're discount, so i can afford to get some fancy stuff. I dont' need a system that will knock me out of the car, but something decent. Like how many watts should my woofers be, shit like that.

oh yeah, and i HATE it when my trunk rattles.. will it rattle with my new car? and how can i prevent it

the trunk is going to rattle... just a simple fact. you can reduce it by installing dynomat or another derivative, but its going to be there. you've asked a very broad question. so i'll try to guide it just a bit.

if your best buy is like mine they really don't have much in the way of gear. the only thing i'd get at best buy would be the stereo, no amp, no subs, no anything else. i don't even walk over there anymore cause its like going to the walmart of car stereo. they have the old cerwin vega "vega" subs and some joke pioneer 300W subs, and the only decent subs they have are the Fosgate HX2 subs but they are way overpriced and arent really that great.

got any contacts at a real audio shop? then we'll talk.

well i said i'd get a stereo so i'll talk about that... im not sure exactly what brands they have but anyways. pioneer is always a solid choice. i dont think they have kenwood but most of them are pretty nice. the alpines really haven't impressed me but they are never a bad choice. stay away from JVC, Aiwa, Jensen (are they still in business?? lol). the fosgate stereos aren't as good as the other products they make.
umm... panasonics sound pretty good but are butt ugly. even if it was the best stereo on the planet and i had a billion bucks they are just too ugly to sit in my ride.

thats all for now. >>Later>>

to expand on what max said a little, most people face the woofers tword the back of the car so that they can see them when they open their trunk and also so they can show them to their friends. if you turn them around so they face the front of your car, it will sound a little louder in addition to it won't make the trunk rattle quite as much. but yeah dynamat will definatly help. best buy does not carry kenwood or alpine. the best head units best buy carries are clarion. while clarion does make pretty good stuff, if you ever have a problem with it and need to send it back to clarion to be fixed though, expect to have a big hole in your dash for at least six months. they are soooooooooo freakin slow. personally the only subs i would ever buy from best buy would be the vega strokers. the only problem with that is i don't know that they can even get those anymore. we need more specifics though. like how much you would like to spend and stuff like that.

never turn your subs facing you... sounds bad. ive never heard a system that sounds good that had the speakers facing the cabin.

i didn't know best buy even sold Strokers.. never seen them there. i doubt they still have access to them.

they sound good facing you, IF you have a good box, If you have the amp set right, and IF everything else is the way it is supposed to be. sorry about being rather indescriptive in this post but i am tired.

theres this place called "hyperpulse" near me, where i know this kid who sells car audio stuff that "falls off trucks", but we're not really that tight so he prolly won't do it for me. But yeah i'm not going to spend like 2309523 dollars on a ****ing car audio system, bestbuy is good enough for me where i can get like half off... although i ****ing HATE trunk rattling... i dunno i might just say **** it and not do anything, and just use my car stricly for transport and spend my money elsewhere, like starting up a porn dvd archive.. its all too damn complicated

subs facing the front : if ported box, and spl application. A sealed box will not work well. Bass sounds as iff its coming from the back (especially with a sealed box).

subs facing the back : sealed, and more sq. Bass is sounds as if its coming form "everywhere".

depends on the ports, were they are and where they go. also did you readjust your amp when you turned it? and also what kind of speakers and amp do you have? and box also for that matter?
