oil pump?
my 88 hb is making a dry knock in the top end and putters when shifted. the motor ha sjust been built from the ground up with new parts. and is pushing about 200 hp so i dont know if this is just the oil pump or not. idont want to have to rebuild the motor again but its like 400 bucks to take it somewhere. if anybody has any ideas on if it might be something else pleas tell me soon. cause i might just scrap the motor if it is the pump.

putters when shifting?? meaning rpms drop off and then pick up or you apply the gas and it doesn;t want to go and like putter/spit.
was everything torqued to specs on the valvetrain and nothing over torqued or anything? compression right in all cylinders? Just a thought...others may have further advise info... |

all the cyl. have good compression but one is about 5-10 lower. everything is torqued properly. ill check the drivetrain again. thanks for the input everything helps.

how about the valve lash ? i know mine did that when they were out of adjustament

i got it fixed. i needed a new oil pump and the cam was off like 2 deg. but the bad thing is now i have to replace my other motor. this really sucks.
