Best Alarm for Quality and Price...

Hey guys I know the 5th gen ludes come with an immobilizer system and I wanted to know how different it is to an alarm...I'm getting I '98 lude and wanted to know which is the best alarm to go with thats worth the money and not that expensive.Plus also how do u get something wired to your cell phone I heard so when your car goes off you can go check it out and it lets you know because in most cases your too far from your car to hear it depending on how loud the alarm is...I'm serious about getting an alarm put in as soon as I get the car because I know the east coast loves to steal the imports.
Thanks.

An immobilizer system basically disables the engine from starting if the alarm is going off (correct me if I'm wrong.)

You can get those "pager" systems pretty cheap on e-bay, which have a relative range of about 1/4 mile and can go thru doors and junk because of their FM band utilization. Most of them also have other features such as autostart, shock zone warning, etc etc... They normally run for about $150-$200 depending on system make.

Get one that looks good ;D they should work relatively the same.

You could go to the store and pay around $500. I am getting one for my project civic, so if you dont mind waiting till summer, I can tell you how its working for me.

Thanks for the info...I have some more questions for YOU ALL.
An immobilizer system basically disables the engine from starting if the alarm is going off.
So would I need an alarm if my car already has an immobilzer '98 lude (base)? And if I could have an alarm then would the immobilizer have to be taken out!?Basically I want to know if the immoblizer works just fine as any simple alarm or am I getting confused...is it an alarm or anti-theft device...I'm lost....I don't want my car for easy prey for thieves!!!!!!!!!
Which are the best makes? I hear of Clifton and Viper the most.
They normally run for about $150-$200 depending on system make.
Get one that looks good ;D...What do u mean? Can u see the alarm in plain view from inside the car or under the hood?Whats a good place in the car for the alarm to be set.
You could go to the store and pay around $500.Would this cost be the same if I bought one on e-bay for $150-$200 plus installation.

and immobolizer is a factory security device, theres a chip in the key and responder in the car and the key needs to be within a few inches of the responder (ie inside the ingition) before it will even start. never take this security device out.... The thing that disables the engine on a alarm is a starter kill, it bypasses the starter wire when the alarm is armed...
Cliford and Viper are made by DEI, clifford is more of the top end line... viper is a very well made alarm don't get me wrong... The alarm brain is placed up under the dash hidden. Some good installers will even put it on the passenger side or behind the gauge cluster..

The immobilizer system is a good factory system. Although, it is only as good as long as the ECM remains in the car. All the thief has to do is swap the ECM with a nonimmobilizer ECM and their gone...

There isn't anything like a good aftermarket alarm. Cars in my area disappear frequently. It is good to see you are doing your homework.
