mustang to civic?
Hello all!
I'm new here (hence posting in this forum) and I need some help. In the past I have always driven Mustangs. (last one was 12.7 @ 107) One of my friends recently bought an RSX type-S and that has really opened my eyes to the honda market. (I haven't bought one yet) Unfortunately I can't afford to spend 25k on a car right now, or I would just buy an RSX. I would like to spend around 10 to 12k and have a 13 second 'all motor' car that is reliable enough to double as my daily driver. I'm leaning toward a civic coupe. There seems to be an endless amount of things that can be done to them. Anyway, let me know what ya think, and give me any suggestions / feedback that you can. TIA TJ |

well...i'll touch on what TonitrusEN said....you could get a half decent civic HB for under 8k..at least where i am from...the HB is a really good platform b/c they are a lil lighter then a coupe...and the B20 idea is a very good idea...B20s have a really nice amount of torque....add a B16a (civic sir1) head..and you have a pretty potent combination....the reason i would choose a b16a head over say a C1 or C5 (gs-r& type-r) is because the b16a offers better head flow then the C1 and C5.......just my two cents....
and we are ALWAYS welcoming people that wanna switch religions (ie..mustang-->hondas).....Welcome Brian |

I've done a little shopping around, and I think I will probably be able to pick up a mid 90's coupe for about $5k. I was looking at an h22a or b18c1 swap for under $5k, and a little extra left over for tires and wheels. I haven't seen much info on the b20's. Where can I get some more info on those?

All it needs is a faster motor. Then I can go buy a mustang to play with..

I've been away from this board for awhile, so I thought I'd give an update... In January I bought an '01 GSR from an insurance company. The interior was stolen out of it. I got a great deal on it. I think I could still make it into the 13 second range for under $12k, but I'm thinking about FI now.
Recently put on 17" Konig Heliums w/falkens. Lowering it 2" this weekend. |

Wow, they did jack the interior didnt they! Did you pickup the interior from a junkyard?
I cant believe they stole the interior and left the motor and stuff. Dumb criminals!

Yeah, picked up an interior from a junkyard. I don't really like tan, but I didn't feel like tearing out everything else to change color. I'm changing the door inserts to black along with a few other pieces, then I'll probably pick up some black aftermarket seats.
They tried to take the whole car, but couldn't get it out of the dealer's lot. Apparently they weren't pros. |

Atleast with the tan seats you cant even tell anything has ever happened to it. Black would look cool with some black inserts and stuff though.
