idle, and poping

i have the irratic idle when i start the car it's fine but after i get the rpms over 4 grand and i stop at a light the idle goes from 1 grand to 1500 up and down every time i stop and like 5 mins after i start drivin my car feels like it is losing power and i hear poping noises coming from my intake like it's backfiring what can be wrong?

this sound like you have malfunction spark plug or wire...check to see if the wire is in place and not loose.

vaccum lines, battery cables (especially the grounds), spark plug wires, rotor, cap, coil miss firing, lack of fuel causing detonation

Just a few tossed out.

I know this post is a little old.. but my thoughts on the matter would deffinately be that the timing is off. The popping is an easy give away.

Sorry for bringing this post back lol but just making sure you are headed in the right direction.

This problem sounds alot like an idle motor where the ecu is not controlling it, and it is in limp mode. You either don't have power to the EACV or you need to reset the idle point in the ECU.
