Sponsorship HELP!!!
Next year I hope to have my car ready to enter her into shows. I was wondering from the people that have sponsors or looked into it when is the best time to start talking to companies like Wings West, HKS, Greddy and so on for sponsorship?
- Should I wait until my car is in the shows? - Should I start making phone calls now? |

i would wait till you get in the shows and get some attention over your car, then the companies might be all over you.

well, you have a civic, not to kill your hopes but they are one of the most commenly hooked up cars ever. if you want sponsorship you need to look more into a local shop that will give you discounts on custom work. theres not a huge market out there for sponsorship from major companies. if you really want to get free stuff our of this, its not the hobby for you. its expensive, the payoff is bragging rights and a ego, if you even get that out of it. talk to your local shops, i had a semi sponsorship from a local shop i guess. they gave me discounts and stuff and i brought them customers. he would do free work for basic stuff i didnt wana bother with (wiring speakers etc.) and i got to use his garage to work on my car. if you can convince your local shop owner that you will help out and bring him business then he may give you discounts. oh, i didnt have to sport ANY stickers either

It's not that I want sponsorship to get stuf for free, but for a little help. I've already had some companies look at my car - small time companies like Street glow and G-Racing (small time rim company). Street glow said that they would give me stuff to add on my car but I would have to pay shipping..(don't really want to add to many neons..) and G-Racing told me they'll sponsor me - all I would have to do is buy a new set of rims every year. I would just pay for one rim and tire and they'll send the other three to me and I would only have to pay for shipping again. I didn't want to do G-racing because there rims aren't nice looking and not in style.
These companies foundme on the streets. I talked to two people that saw me on the road and pulled me over and started talking to me about there company. I don't think the same luck is going to happen with people that work at HKS, Greddy, and wings west. That's why wanted help. But I know what you all are saying about having to do something wild to my car to get people to look at it. lol, believe me... I know there are a lot of civics out there. Thanks everyone for the posts! ;-) -Rachel |

Most of the time you need to get into the show/races prior. You need some exposure.
