i think the time has come
for me to move the hell out of my parents' place. i found some nice apartments in some nice areas for 460/mo. Now i think i need to save up some money for the first month rent and the security deposit and the furniture. Well now my question is how much money i would need to buy crap that i need when i move out. i pretty much have nothing right now except 2 computers, a computer desk, a tv and a bed. :o

well make a list of what you think you need. its looking like a couch, some sort of table, some silverware, cups, plates, i'd say have an extra grand if you could, but its not needed

Shouldnt be too much man. I remember back then when I finally lived by myself, all I had was my PC and clothes. Then i bought myself a decent flat screen TV, microwave, and personal hygeine stuff. After that, I slowly started acquiring other things including kitchen ware and my own washer and dryer. Goodluck mang....

damn hondaman where do you live? I live in maryland. There are no apartments around here for less than like 700 unless its a dump and in a bad place. Was out on my own for a while had to move back home it sucked. Its that time again saved up a bunch of money, gonna buy this time. Make the loot now that I can.

sofa, chair?, plates, utensils, blender?, toaster?, microwave, rug?, lamps?, etc etc... have at least $500 and closer to $1000 if you can just to buy all the little stuff such as scissors, nail clippers, etc etc...

Highlander was raised with a certain lifestlye... it's gunna cost a LOT to make yourself "comfortable" in your own place...
My suggestion would be buy ALL of your stuff at walmart or kmart etc... You can get lots of stuff cheap. I spent over 1k moving into my first apt. And I didn't even need utensils or plates etc... My rents had extra everything... Hell just the first shopping trip so you have S&P ketchup mustard etc etc etc... cost like 400 at least... Cost of living is higher in the NE though... My first apt's rent was 900 for a 2 bedroom.

I'd list all of the things you'd "need" in my opinion, but half of my list would be more of a "want." COngrats on finding a place though
It's my first year outtuv the house..and, well, I miss my mommy and daddy a teensy bit.

Its going to cost a lot more than you think at first. All of the little stuff adds up. You could probably get by with $750 extra if you plan carefully, but I'd save a little more just in case. Good move getting your own place

Yeah, get rid of that debt while you're still rent free! I'm sure it will pay off in the long run, even if you're stuck with your parents for a little while longer.

The best advice I've heard here. That shit is so fucking true man. i wish I could move in to my mom's right now to save money and pay off my debt. But I cant do that since that'll require me to move back to the Philippines... ha ha.... If you decide to still move out tho, fuk it and grab some kitchen ware from your parents. Grab some canned foods as well.... |

wtf does that have to do with anything? why is this always an issue in every one of your posts? I don't understand... it isn't like I said he needed a white tiger skin rug and 24k gold goblets to go with his 42" plasma screen tv and 120 gallon saltwater aquarium... geez...

Don't forget, you don't just have rent. You have ultilities. My first aprament was 460 a month, but after everything it came to around 750 a month...
And i don't even wanna think about what the house is costing me.... But as mentioned before, try to get out of deubt first. |

not a bad set-up. It actually looks bigger than my single bedroom since I dont have a kitchen. Do you have a washer/dryer hook up at least? That is one of the best mod you can ever have on your apartment........ |
